Hola, todos!
It has been an eventful day in Mexico!

Demanding Spanish classes and a hefty lunch preceded our afternoon in town. With the help of our guide, Sergio, we started our tour learning the history of Mexico and Baja and the journeys of Hernando Cortes. We learned about the harsh environment along with the geographical advantages of the area.
We walked through the town learning about the old sugarcane money and the architecture created with it. The Jesuits discovered that sugarcane grows pretty well in Baja. Many plantations soon emerged, bringing great wealth to the plantation owners. Sergio taught us about the different architectural styles of a church and host the sugarcane company stores were invented so that companies could avoid paying workers a livable wage.

We learned many things about Baja and are eager to learn many more.
Hasta la próxima,
Leon
