Unfortunately, today was the last day of our Spanish classes. It has been wonderful to have our Spanish teachers come to Quinta Santa Rosa and spend so much time with us. We’ve spent the last week learning more Spanish than ever and there has been so much improvement from everyone.
The progress that we, as a whole school, have made from having four hour, full immersion classes with native Spanish speakers was amazing. Our teachers have had immense patience with us and have been some of the best guides in our journey. The classes helped all of us improve in speaking Spanish and understanding the culture that we have the privilege of partaking. To celebrate the ending of our classes, we destroyed the piñatas that we made on Friday.
The week was wrapped up by going to the beach and playing a beach soccer game and competing in a relay race that the students designed. We saw how our skills in the ocean: swimming, body boarding, reading the waves and staying safe, have improved since we first got here. I feel ready for sea kayaking next week around Isla Espíritu Santos, an Island off the coast of La Paz in the Sea of Cortez. While it’s sad the first third of our trip is over, I can’t wait to experience the next part.
