A letter from The Link School’s Executive Director
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths”. This directive from Proverbs has been a light to me this year. It is full of absolutes and the most beautiful of promises- the fact that we can trust and will be led. So much of life is looking to see if the path that we are considering is the right path and will lead us to a place that feels fulfilling, safe, right. This statement feels supportive and complete here at Link. When we are trusting in God we are turning away from opinion, from fear, from confusion and our way opens up.
We have had such a fulfilling year. A few weeks back, we graduated 7 incredible and inspiring students who are heading out into their next steps with full hearts and with a reliance on Love. During the year, all of our students continually worked at becoming a loving and supportive community. They asked each other and themselves to be present and to focus on the good that was all around them. They lifted each other and they lifted the entire community. The work that these students, this family, has done, continues on and is evident in so many ways. There is so much good to be acknowledged. It takes so many individuals who are leaning on and trusting God, to make this school thrive. Thank you for all or your loving support that makes The Link School possible.
With so much love and so much gratitude,
James Orlet

Highlights from our Dear Sponsor Letters:
I cannot put into words how grateful I am for the people I have met, feats I have accomplished, grades I have gotten, lives I have seen turn around, hearts that have filled up mine, and the joy and exhilaration I have gained from this beautiful place. I owe it to Link and to myself to go show the world what I have realized I am capable of and prove that silly sophomore wrong in every way possible. I am so stoked to see where this wonderful life leads me, and in what ways I can give back to try and repay the universe for the abundant good I have received here.

The person who walked through the door at Link originally, is not the girl who will be walking out of the door for the final time. When I first arrived at Link I didn’t know who I wanted to be, what I wanted to be, or even what my life meant. I was addicted to my phone, and I couldn’t see the point in a lot of things. I can’t even recognize that girl now. Link has changed me in more ways than I thought I needed to be changed. Now I am excited for idea of the future, I am eager to push my limits and try new things.

I came to Link this year to get out of my comfort zone, try new things, and get comfortable with being uncomfortable, I have found those things and so much more. One thing that has been really meaningful and has changed me as a person, was James’s Resilience class every Monday. Through his class, I have learned how to overcome challenges, stay positive through tough times, it doesn’t matter what other people say or think of you, and most importantly that the Mind over matter thought is essential to a successful and happy life.

This community was a beautiful thing to watch grow. These are relationships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. We became a family. There is no other time in my life when I will be placed in a situation where you are surrounded by the same people all the time and in everything I do, but that was what made it beautiful. I am extremely grateful for each and every person I spent this year with because I had powerful moments with every one of them. In addition, I learned how to appreciate the beauty in myself.

Spending my senior year of high school at Link was the best decision of my life. It has meant so much to be able to experience everything this year and make connections with all of these people. I have grown in so many ways, I cannot even imagine. I have learned how to step up as a leader and to become more understanding and compassionate towards people. Everything that I experienced at The Link School I will take forward in life and it means so much to me that others get to experience this too.
