The guide handed me the harness.
At this point, it had already begun, —
this once in a life-time experience made by a waterfall and a 70 meter rope.
I felt humor inside me
when he tightened the harness even though I knew how
The walk was long
and wet
and warm
the sweat, like pearls, rolling down my face.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
The calming rhythm too slow for a heartbeat.
I felt my breath escape my lungs quickly and softly when I looked over the edge of the jagged rock
The sprinkles of water splashed me from the running stream
an arm’s-length from me.
I feel a cool shiver trickle up my spine when
I dared to let my self sink over the edge.
Step by step I descended the waterfall.
Slipping on the wet rock, I jerked forward and felt a sudden shot of adrenalin.
“Man, this is fun!”
After a quick gulp of air, I repositioned myself and started my descent again.
There was no fear or terror in me just excitement and pure amazement.
Sadly, I was on flat ground and that familiar humor washed over me again when the guide helped me loosen my harness.
I can’t wait to experience this again – but on a bigger scale!
