Hola olas,
After our time at the composting facility we went to la playa de Las Posas beach. It’s a beach that we’ve been to before. After our beach safety talk, most of the students (including me) went to one of the many small naturally formed sand wall that took the brunt of the waves. I thought it was very cool how the beach moves and transforms from day to day. We started with playing chicken with the waves, standing at the edge then running from them as they’d reach our toes. At the end of it all my pockets were completely filled with sand and our smilies were beaming!
The waves we were watching from the beach were huge. Sometimes they would curl, like normal waves do, but then they would do this thing where they would shoot water up really high. After playing on the edge of the waves and watching them roll, we gathered for some writing time. The prompt was, “right now, what is the landscape telling you?” I thought it was a very thought provoking question and I wrote about how I thought the landscape made me feel like it is a really big world. We were writing just before sunset, and as we finished writing we took some time to enjoy the beautiful sunset before leaving.I actually thought the sunset was prettier after the sun went down. It had this really cool glowing effect with the clouds, which made it reflect back on the ocean a lot. It made everything very bright with the colors of the sunset: red, orange and yellow with purple on the edges. I thought it was one of the top five sunsets I’ve ever seen. It was a beautiful beautiful day, one that I’ll remember!
