Makenzie Barron Murray
Academic Director
Love for the outdoors and for education brought me to Link over 15 years ago. I couldn’t have predicted then how much a part of my life the school would become. I am grateful to work with staff who are as curious, devoted, energetic, and knowledgeable as those at Link, and I love every day that I spend with our wildly funny and smart students.
After many summers guiding on the Arkansas River, my husband, Steve, and I settled in Buena Vista full time in 2012. I have taught English and composition at Colorado Mountain College in both Leadville and Buena Vista, as well as at The Link School. During my years at Link, I have had the opportunity to work as a field instructor, residential assistant, and classroom teacher, which has given me an appreciation for the variety of settings students experience at Link. I have served as Academic Director since 2020.
I hold a BA in linguistics from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and an MFA in creative writing with a focus in fiction from Queens University of Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina.
When not at Link, I love to read, ski, coach rec soccer, and wrangle my two girls, Robin and Heidi.
