Waking Up In Baja

We woke up excited with the realization that we were finally in Baja! It was a unique experience having just been in a winter wonderland to arriving in a warm, ocean side town a day later with many things to explore. We had a delicious breakfast followed by a calming and collecting lesson study. Then we had our first Spanish class with our fun and amazing Spanish teachers whom we look forward to seeing and learning from throughout the week.

Later, we walked to lunch in town where we had fun conversations with each other to practice a bit of our Spanish while eating some very tasty quesadillas. After that, we met with the owner of our local guiding company to learn about the discovery of Baja, Mexico and the town of Todos Santos. To wrap up the day, we drove to the nearby beach, whipped out our journals, and summarized the day in front of a beautiful sunset. During this time we enjoyed seeing whales breaching the surface and manta rays gliding through the crashing waves. After that, we drove back to Todos Santos to eat dinner. At the restaurant, we saw our good friend, Bernardo with his two very cute dogs while munching on super quesadillas. Finally, we went back to the hotel, listened to the end of the Michigan vs Washington football game, and gathered a group of students to go to the local “bodega” or corner-store to buy snacks. Casius is very excited that Michigan are now National Champions in college football.
