Today we wrapped things up at Las Pacas and said our goodbyes to Don Santiago, Doña Mati, and the rest of the Las Pacas community. It was time to begin the next leg of our journey, kayaking around Isla Espiritu Santo.
To prepare for this part of the trip, we stopped at Bernardo’s company’s shop where we picked up gear and got fitted for wetsuits. We drove through La Paz to the port where a ponga (motorboat) met us. We loaded up our bags into the taxi boat and headed across the bay to the island. We we arrived, we set up camp, ate lunch, then went for a short kayaking trip. We got to see some cool mangroves and birds. After that, we headed back to camp, ate dinner, and had our Wednesday evening gratitude meeting.
Everyone shared gratitude for the adventure and harmony of the trip and for the beauty of being on the island.
