Fisher Towers

Today we went hiking and climbing at Fisher Towers. During the hike, we stopped to draw. We have been drawing for a few days now, and I have seen lots of improvement in my artwork!

Today I drew the view from the trail, using techniques that I learned over the past few days. In my drawing, I used the dot technique for a bush, and the one line technique in some parts of the drawing too! Yesterday we learned about locating a vanishing point and I incorporated that into my drawing as well! I am really proud of my artwork, and I would love to continue drawing after the trip!

After the hike, we went climbing! I am rather new at rock climbing outdoors, so today was definitely a challenge! We climbed a tower that was rated between 5.8 and 5.9. Towards the middle of the climb, I started to struggle. My fingers were really cold, making it hard to grip the rock. And my mind was telling me that the climb was too difficult for me to finish. I was tempted to go down, but I knew that I would be upset at myself for not finishing the climb, and I wanted to prove to myself that I am capable of doing things when I put my mind to it. So I kept going and I made it to the top! I was so happy and proud of myself for pushing myself through the climb because the view at the top was very rewarding!

All in all, today was a very good day and I’m grateful that I got to be in it with the Link community!
