Sean Thornton
Residential Assistant / Program Staff
Hello! My name is Sean Thornton, and this is my first year at The Link School. I’m very excited to be fulfilling the role of the Male Residential Assistant as well as one of the program staff members. I’m originally from Godfrey, Illinois, which served as a wonderful home while I attended Principia’s schools, played soccer and many other sports, and went off in the summers to a variety of C.S. summer camps. Not too long ago, in the May of 2022, I graduated from Principia College with degrees in Outdoor and Experiential Education as well as Religious Studies. In my free time, I really enjoy hiking mountains (especially 14ers), spending time with friends outdoors, climbing, and general fitness. I have not had the opportunity to ski in many years, but as the winter comes I’m sure you will be able to find me on the slopes. I hope to continue to expand my hobbies and recreational activities, seeing as I am in one of the best spots I’ve found for this so far!
This past summer I spent my time at the A/U ranches. For the beginning of the season I was working as a facilitator at the 100 Elk Outdoor Education Center, but that came to end after just a short three weeks, and my time as program head for the Challengers at A/U began. Between these two life-changing jobs, I fell even further in love with working with kids, educating and facilitating activities in the outdoors, the magnificent outdoors themselves, and finding God’s beautiful expression in everything and everyone around me. At The Link School, I’ve found moments in every single one of my days that inspire me in the same way that my summer work did. I love watching the students laugh and find connection with each other, push themselves hard within program activities, and beautifully navigate challenges with the support of others and Christian Science. Not to mention being able to spend priceless moments with bright young minds in the beautiful backcountry.
